SEASON UPDATE - 2010
The spring field season began on May 18th with five dedicated ship days for the the Lake Ecology Field Program, part of the LWRC's Education Program. This was followed by the Science Program - the spring research survey ran between May 26th and June 16th.
The summer research survey began on July 26th and ended on August 18th. A few days were lost in the north basin due to high winds of 34+ knots , but otherwise, the survey went well.
The Namao will be in dry dock in Selkirk for her 5-year refit between August 25th and September 22nd. This will be followed by the fall research survey.
The first signs of the north basin algal bloom were visible from space on about July 12, and a south basin bloom began to form around July 22. Check out the satellite image page for more information. |
