Does the LWRC have volunteer opportunities?
We do not have a structured volunteer program; however, we will consider student volunteers to assist with the field program on board M/V Namao. Use the Contact form to indicate your interest and availability.
How is the Lake Winnipeg Research Consortium funded?
The LWRC receives funding on an annual basis from a few major sponsors, including Manitoba Hydro, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and the Province of Manitoba. This funding supports ship operations. Smaller contributions are used to support the Education Program and three part-time administration positions – Managing Director, Programs Coordinator, and Superintendent of Marine Operations.
I am an Art teacher, not a Science teacher. Can I still apply to the Lake Ecology Field Program on Board M/V Namao?
